What is a Medical Laboratory Technician?
The Medical Laboratory Technician works in a hospital, clinic, private or research laboratory performing a variety of diagnostic tests. The course of study includes mathematics, chemistry, anatomy and physiology, medical laboratory procedures, general education courses and 1 semester of field experience. Graduates may be eligible to take a national certification examination such as that given by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP).
